At Clarify, We Don’t Use AI in Our Creative Process

If we’re writing social media copy for you, there’s no AI used in making that. If we’re creating infographics for your website, there’s no AI used in making that. See a pattern? Good. It keeps going.

We acknowledge that AI is a buzzword in everything nowadays, and as you can imagine, it’s difficult to avoid it. The rest of this policy clarifies our stance on AI and where it pops up in the world of digital marketing.

We Optimize for AI (Kind of)

Whoa, Clarify guys, what happened to not using AI? We don’t use generative AI (GenAI) and we don’t include it in our creative process, even brainstorming, but AI is out there like a wildfire, and it’s touching just about everything in the digital marketing world.

So your business needs to prepare for it. It needs to know how to work with AI in marketing, such as Google’s AI Overviews (AIO). If we ignored that, well, we’d be bad marketers.

At Clarify, we make sure AI’s ever-encroaching British Empire-level presence isn’t just written off. We strongly dislike AI, but we’re also not stupid. It’s in search, so we have to make sure you can still be found in AIO, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and other popular AI tool results.

We Believe Generative AI is Theft

Let’s make our position clear: we believe GenAI is theft. We have to put “we believe” for legal reasons, we think, but basically we don’t like this shit. We don’t use GenAI because we have basic respect for effort, sweat equity, whatever you want to call it.

Here’s where shit gets weird: we use tools like Canva in our production, who doesn’t, right? Canva is adopting a ton of AI tools, particularly GenAI, and that doesn’t sit well with us. We don’t use that tool, but we still use Canva.

These are rough waters to navigate. We’re not consciously using GenAI, we’re not prompting, we’re not seeking it out. As tools we use evolve and GenAI is forcibly injected into more software, we’re keeping an eye out to make sure we’re not using it to the best of our understanding.

TL;DR: We don’t fuckin’ like it, we’re avoiding it, we’re hoping it doesn’t get injected into software we do use under the hood.

We Stay Up-to-Date On AI because You Need Us To

Plain and simple, we don’t want to kneecap your marketing efforts, and we need to know what we’re up against. We keep our enemies close.

So you will see content on our website and social media channels talking about AI, GenAI, AIO, GEO (even though that’s a dumb term), and how AI keeps evolving in search and marketing. We’d be irresponsible if we didn’t keep tabs on it.
